Newry completed their league campaign with a 1-1 draw at Ballymena. James Willis scored for Newry who were on top in the first half. The home side came back in the second half and equalised with a goal from Scates. It was the first draw that Newry have had under Gerry Flynn as manager.

Newry were given a harsh lesson in how far they have to improve to compete at the top when they lost 4-0 at home to Linfield on Tuesday. Thompson scored 2, Stewart and Kearney with a penalty the others. It was the fourth consecutive league game in which we have conceded a penalty.

Newry will hope to improve on Saturday in our final home game of the season when we host Armagh at the Showgrounds (kick off 3pm). After the game there will be an end of season presentation in the social club with players present. Please come along and show your support for the team.

Newry's 5 match winning run came to an end at Solitude when we were defeated 2-1 by Cliftonville. Newry started well and led thanks to a bizarre own goal from O'Hara but Johnston quickly equalised. As the ref lost control Kelly was sent off but in the 2nd half Johnston of the Reds followed him. We looked good for a deserved point until shocking defending allowed Holland to get on the end of a floated 40 yard free kick.

A disappointing result with plenty of players below par. Best for us were probably Donegan and McArdle. Next up is a home game on Tuesday against champions Linfield (kick off 3pm).
